And with the Sydney housing market on the rise once more - RP Data predicts the most expensive homes will rise 10 per cent to 15 per cent this year - expats are arriving in increasing numbers from around the world to buy houses, even if they're not planning to settle here just yet.

Sunshine Coast is growing

The Sunshine Coast (which stretches from Caloundra in the south to Noosa in the north) is now bigger in terms of population than Hobart and is on track to have a quarter of a million people soon. It is now one of the 10 largest principal urban centres in Australia.

Australian cities continue to rate among the highest for quality of life with criteria including; political, social, economic and environmental factors, personal safety and health, education, transport and public services. A recent survey has found that Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane all feature within the top 25 cities out of over 200, and ahead of cities like San Francisco, Paris, London and Montreal.
